After a successful opening game against Liverpool Ladies in the FA Women's Cup on Sunday, Blues Ladies face another Merseyside team this weekend when Everton Ladies visit the DCS Stadium in the FA WSL Continental Cup.

Having reached the final of the FA WSL Continental cup last year and losing out to an inform Arsenal team  4-1, Ladies boss David Parker will be hoping his Blues side will be able to go one better.

Speaking ahead of the game, Parker said: "The last time we met was in the same competition last September in the semi-final and it ended in a 2-1 win thanks to a last minute goal by Jodie Taylor.

"A repeat of the same score on Sunday would go down very nicely.

"It will be tough test against an Everton side filled with quality. They were the only team to beat us in the league last season so we will need to be at the top of our game to get a positive result."

This season, the competition takes a slightly different format with the straight knock-out abolished and the eight WSL clubs drawn in to two groups with teams facing three round robin group games before the Olympic break in July.

The Cup will then re-commence in September with the semi-finals, where group winners will take home advantage against the runners-up of the opposing group for a place in the 2012 FA WSL Continental Cup Final in October.
