Blues Ladies welcome Liverpool Ladies to the DCS Stadium this Sunday, as they look to maintain their unbeaten start to the FA Women’s Super League season.

Blues thrashed bottom-of-the-table Doncaster Rovers Belles in their last league outing, to move up to second, and Liverpool sit just one place higher than Doncaster in seventh.

Birmingham have already beaten Robbie Johnson’s side this term in the FA Women’s Cup, prevailing comfortable 3-0 winners in the fifth round, but Ladies manager David Parker admits his team will have their hands full trying to breach a stubborn Reds rearguard.

He said: “Liverpool have improved in recent weeks and watching them versus Chelsea (Ladies) at the weekend, they are looking more dangerous going forwards, with the young (Hannah) Keryakoplis impressing.

“Having said that on the two previous occasions, Liverpool have played with a back five against us to try and neutralise our attacking threat and to catch us on the counter attack, so I expect much of the same this weekend.”

A win over Liverpool could close the gap on table-toppers Arsenal Ladies to as little as one point, and will create some valuable momentum heading into next Saturday’s FA Cup final with Chelsea.

Parker added: “We haven't really got going yet in the league and because of the cup competitions this season, even though they have been a great success, it will come into full focus now with five games in the next six weeks. Hopefully a positive result at the weekend would be a great send off to the fans with the FA Cup Final the following week.”
