Star striker scoops four awards as Blues Ladies celebrate season’s success

Following a WSL Golden Boot winning campaign, Ellen White picked up a quartet of gongs at this year’s Birmingham City Ladies Player Awards.

The England striker took home the Supporters Player of the Season award sponsored by EPC Publishing along with the Goal of the Season award for her effort against Manchester City back in February.

Her fellow teammates voted her the Player’s Player of the year sponsored by Elite Sports Agency whilst Marc Skinner presented the 29-year-old with the Manager’s Player of the Season to round off a memorable night for the lethal Lioness.

The event coincided with the Club’s 50th Anniversary and was attended by former players Sue Ford, Sue Hector and Laura Bassett.

In addition, the Special Achievement Award went to Emily Westwood in recognition of her seven years service to the Club. The vastly experienced defender will transition into a new role to assist upcoming talent whilst still training part time.

Ann-Katrin Berger’s return to action 8 weeks after surgery was named the the Moment of the Season in what was the most poignant award of the evening. The Blues stopper pulled on her gloves against Reading back in February for the first time in two months after undergoing treatment for thyroid cancer.

Elsewhere, Aoife Mannion was named the Young Player of the Season whilst Georgia Popple picked up the Development Squad Player of the Season, sponsored by Solihull College and University Centre and Lily Simkin was handed the RTC Player of the Season, sponsored by Technical Drive.

Finally, Skipper Kerys Harrop presented Chris Freville with the Supporter of the Season Award whilst Maddy Cusack was handed the Maple Choice Award by the event sponsors and partner of the Club - Maple from Canada.

There was some more good news for the Blues Regional Talent Club who were the benefactors of a raffle which raised £525.

The Club would like to thank everyone who attended the BCLFC Player Awards including our supporters, staff, event sponsors and special guests for making it an evening to remember.
