Blues sign England U20 star

Blues Ladies have completed the signing of central midfielder Abbeyleigh Stringer from Aston Villa Ladies.

The 18-year-old, who has been included in the England U20 squad for the forthcoming Women's U20 World Cup in Canada, is viewed as an intelligent footballer who has the talent to pull the strings in the middle of the park.

Stringer graduated through Villa's centre of excellence and has been with the FA WSL2 side for the past four seasons.

Commenting on the new recruit, David Parker said: "We're delighted to bring Abbeyleigh to the football club. It is another sign that hungry, young players see this club as the place to develop and reach their potential.

"When meeting with Abbeyleigh and her family it was obvious she was desperate to succeed at the highest level and didn't need to be sold on what the club can do for her, our record speaks for itself.

"I remember watching her play when she was 13-years-old and developing at the old Coventry City Ladies Centre of Excellence and she always stood out then as a player to watch out for in the future.

"Since then she has gone on to represent England at all youth levels so far and has great experience. She is joining at the perfect time for us and our quest for honors this season adding even more depth to our young squad.

"It's just another perfect fit for us and our way that we want to move forward."

Blues Ladies are straight back in action this Sunday in the FA WSL Continental Cup with the visit of Notts County to the Autotech Stadium (2pm kick-off). For ticket details, click HERE.
