The Club can today confirm that Jess Carter has completed a move to Chelsea for an undisclosed fee.

The 20-year-old, who was deployed at right-back for much of the 2017/18 campaign, makes the switch to West London as Marc Skinner continues to reshuffle his squad.

Carter made 97 appearances and scored twice during her four-year association with Blues. Prior to being promoted from Birmingham City’s Centre of Excellence, Carter played for Warwick Juniors from the age of seven, captaining the side to a County Cup title.

At 16-years old, she made her First Team debut in a Champions League quarter-final tie against Arsenal. A consistent run in the team earned her a call up for the national side where she would go on to be capped once for the Lionesses in a 5-0 win over Kazakhstan back in November 2017.

“Jess and I have always had a strong professional relationship since she joined the Club at sixteen-years-old,” said Marc Skinner. “Having managed her in the Centre of Excellence, Development team and the First team we have formed a real understanding of each other.

“This is why it is the right time for Birmingham and Jess to head in our different directions.

“I would like to thank Jess for her time at the club and wish her all the best for the upcoming season.”

The Club would like to reiterate Marc’s comments and thank Jess for all her efforts and wish her every success in the next chapter of her career.
