Kerys Harrop appointed as Captain
Manager Marc Skinner has confirmed his final changes ahead of the Spring Series.
Last year’s Vice-Captain Kerys Harrop will replace current Captain Emily Westwood who takes Kery’s previous role.
Harrop started 21 times in all competitions last season, whilst Westwood featured 16 times.
“Kerys Harrop was an easy choice to be my Captain,” said Skinner.
“She was a young 15-year old player when I first joined the Birmingham City Ladies Centre of Excellence, but it was clear even at that age she had the leadership qualities to be a future Blues Captain.
“She has been and remains one of the most consistent performers in the squad and is ready to lead the Club in our new direction.
“Kerys shows a commitment on and of the field to promote the Blues family values and embodies all of the traits we hold in high esteem.”
“Emily Westwood has shown her importance to the Club and the team since she joined in 2010,” added Skinner.
“Emily possesses excellent leadership qualities and I am very happy to have her as the Vice-Captain of this talented team.
“As well as being an excellent technician on the field, Emily supports and nurtures the players as well as offering advice to the coaching staff using her valuable experience.
However despite the announcement, the Manager is keen for others to step-up and take leadership.
“Although I have selected Kerys and Emily to represent our team in the public eye, the team has many leaders within the dressing room and on the training field,” concluded Skinner.
“We will look to everyone to help us achieve our ambitions.”
