Blues Ladies manager Marc Skinner was left to lament the poor finishing which cost his side dearly.

Marc Skinner on the frustration of failing to turn a good performance into points:

“I’m bitterly disappointed to come away empty-handed from that game. We had several superb chances and we haven’t taken any.

“We’ve got to start turning these type of displays into points. It’s not the first time this has happened this season and those in forward areas must do better in this respect.

“They’ve all worked hard but the clinical edge isn’t there and the players must go back to the training pitch and find it.”

Marc Skinner on the overall display:

“We were utterly dominant. We’ve come here and outplayed Liverpool on their own artificial surface from start to finish.

“It was a poor goal to concede because I’d warned about the danger of the long ball and them hitting us on the break.

“We didn’t deserve to fall behind, but we rallied well and unfortunately Charlie Wellings has missed a great chance which we needed to take.

“Then, in the second half, we’ve still been the side on the offensive but have somehow come away empty-handed.

“Sometime fairly soon someone is going to take a battering off us because we are playing some good stuff, but we’ve got to improve in front of goal clearly.”

Marc Skinner on the displays of midfield summer recruits Hayley Ladd and Lucy Quinn:

“They are both excellent footballers and it’s clear for everyone to see why I brought them to the club.

“They are accomplished on the ball and work hard. Both are keen to learn and are proving to be key members of the squad, so I’m really pleased with their progress.”
